Beliefs are the deciders of our destiny

Our beliefs can hold us back or take us forward. Our beliefs can make us successful or unsuccessful. Let us first get a clear picture of our beliefs to find out if they are improving our lives or hindering our growth.

Mostly, some hard to go beliefs are acquired during a very early stage of life when one is in their tender youth when a young observes things around him curiously and gradually makes a thinking pattern out of his curious observations and develops behavioral personality traits. It is always advisable to the parents and teachers to take heed of their children’s interests, hobbies, liking and disliking. Parental counseling as well as counseling from teachers is much needed for children as a part of their healthy psychological development, after all children spend most of their time in the home environment or in the school environment during their formative years.

Think a bit about your children and the kind of environment they are exposed to, contacts they make and beliefs they form.
Starting  from  young  adults  who  are  in  their  formative  years  of  growth  and  self development to the grownups and even the elders, we all need right beliefs to carry our lives with righteousness and confidence, this is a part of character building, and we know that people with strong characters subsequently build a strong society.

We all should educate each other about the beliefs or thoughts which can create happiness as well as the beliefs which can create trouble in our lives. With an example here I would like to explain you about the beliefs people hold about money and money making.

Either we hold some restricting beliefs about money, or we perceive money as a tool of power over others.

Indeed the collective beliefs and attitudes of a nation define its progress and prosperity in every sphere.  Every nation should progress materially,  morally and spiritually.  If one nation is progressed more than the other, it’s due to the reason that the former has been more  equipped  with  knowledge,  know-how,  technology  and  attitude  of  industry.  A nations’ progress is indeed the progress of its citizens, every individual progress of a nation is its actual progress but in a capitalist world it is hardly possible to define a nation’s true success  as  our  individuality  and  egoism  divide  the  nation  into  fragments.  A  nation’s progress in all spheres of self-growth is possible when every individual, eventually from the heart will sing the slogan that they are happier than ever, this can only be possible when happiness becomes a synonym of material as well as spiritual prosperity. An attitude of industry is a welcome sign of sure growth but an attitude of selfishness is a sign of digression from true progress, true progress lies in shared prosperity. We cannot say that a country is in progress when it has millions dying of hunger and a few prospering rapidly.

Progress is possible when there is plenty, but it is impossible when the benefits are reaped by only the handful of people, hence it is always a truth that the smarter ones take home all wealth and the others remain poor. Is not it that selfishness of the smarter ones who do not share their knowledge? How can equality be possible when one home is lit with light among thousands of homes in darkness? Darkness is ignorance, lack of means to gain knowledge and the inability to access the resources of knowledge which manifest money.

Sometimes we blame on a certain government of a certain country about its lawlessness or corruption, but we do not blame on those people who elect the government, do not we know that the citizens of a nation are the actual creator or composer of its government. If corruption or ignorance rules a nation it’s because its individuals are either corrupt or selfish of within and if ignorance rules a nation its due to the acceptance toward   the
attitude of ignorance, corruption or lethargy by the ignorant and cowards.

It is indeed the collective fear; cowardice attitude and lack of enterprise which obstruct a nations’ progress. Highlighting national progress and liberty is not worthwhile without emphasizing the character of a nation. Shared knowledge, freedom of speech and thought, fearless attitude toward every vice in the society form the character in an individual and its nation.

A country that has such individuals on its soil, without doubt is a country of great freedom. Our labors of building strong character within us will be carried forward from our generation to the other, as our ancestors laboured for their individual prosperity and we in someway  enjoy  the  fruit  of  their  labor,  likewise,  it’s  our  duty  to  make  a  progressive approach toward entrepreneurship, goodwill building, uprightness, knowledge and know- how for all individuals.

Self-help always comes into being when we discuss about a country’s prosperity, if we look into history of the western countries, especially the English and English character, we can find how well they are equipped with the power of self-help. If a tiny country ruled half of the world by colonizing countries do you think it’s the power of their military might? Indeed the truth is that they were all equipped with the power which lies within. The concept of self-help has been a part of English character; hence history witnessed their organized power of self-help throughout its course.

There are thousands of examples in history where we find how the characters consisting of nobility, industry, courage, self-worth, philanthropy and honesty creep subconsciously or consciously into lives and psyches of people.

Individuality of character and calling is what defines a person. Our courses and callings are more  influenced  by the general  conventions  and  rules, and we most  often  follow the conventional path designed for us, hence we achieve the most common things in life. To experience the extra from the ordinary unique paths have to be discovered. Those who learn  from  observing,  knowing  and  experiencing  life  and  the  trivialities  of  life  gain profound self-knowledge. They become the inventors, leaders and pioneers and path finders. When these strong individuals of strong individualities experience their spiritual dimension, they gain a sense of oneness without losing their individualities. You must be wondering how it can be possible to gain oneness without shedding the layer of individuality. Yes, it is possible when the knowledge of our own powers peels the layers of our self-conceit or ego.

There are thousands of examples in history where we find how the characters consisting of

Adaptability to a certain circumstance or event makes us alive in the play of life but forceful adaptations to the work, relationships, life or the events of life take away all the charm of life while the natural adaptation to our callings and courses of life invigorates the individuality.

By thinking high we think of a high living, which is indeed a most instructive gospel of self-help, it cannot   be overlooked nor we can overlook the influence and characters of great, especially virtuous men in our lives as incentives to life that propel the engine of self- growth. A man who wants to feel proud of his manly character should be aware of the ingredient characters that make him stand distinguished among others.

It’s our individuality, which makes us distinct while, on the contrary, our collective outlook makes us united. If the freedom of speech and thought are our right then the ability to manifest it empowers us. Without character, self-culture, self-control one cannot enjoy the freedom of thought, speech and action. What enriches our society is the power of self-help and self-study. Books of knowledge are elementary but actual knowledge comes from self- study and right actions. If we keep on reading a book without observing its minute details we cannot be enlightened.

Self-help  is  impossible  without  faith.  Successes  are  the  result  of  our  beliefs.
