Dementia cause and remedies

Now as per a fresh research life style causes brain ageing. Dementia occurs with the progress in age. Mostly memory loss and ability to think quickly or the speed of thinking reduces with aging but now the UK scientists discovered that changes in life style can alter the aging of the brain cells.








Most importantly healthy diet consisting of mostly Mediterranean food, regular exercise, no smoking and moderate consumption of Alcohol helps fight Alzheimer’s disease- a form of dementia. Study found that smokers are at higher risk of Alzheimer’s while having a healthy lifestyle consisting of a better exercise regimen prevents dementia significantly.

Exercise 4 to 5 times a week for 30-1 hour greatly helps in keeping the brain healthy. Degeneration of brain may start from the age 45-55 to the later age groups. Preventing high blood pressure, diabetics, obesity helps prevent dementia.

It is also proved that depression causes dementia. Memory loss is often seen in people in their old age. Cause of stress is another reason of dementia. Preventing depression and stress may help dementia during old age.

Goa and kerala in India have highest number of people in their old age. Goa alone has 5000 people with dementia. Tough an NGO called Sangath which deals in the improvement of healthcare across the country is now spreading awareness about dementia. In many countries it is believed that dementia is a normal aging related problem. It is estimated that 71 million dementia patients will be found in Asia pacific out of which 12 million will be in India alone.

Awareness is the key to prevent dementia in countries where the myth that aging often causes dementia is prevalent. There is a need to form community groups and NGOs to spread awareness about Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia among people. By changing lifestyle the dementia can be prevented.
