Micro irrigation and monsoon dependency

It is a truth that Indian economy is still largely dependent on agriculture but the fact of the matter highlights that our farmers mostly depends upon monsoon, hence can we safely say that our agriculture industry is monsoon centric. Hold a moment! Well we can not say this in entirety.

Just read this article about micro irrigation which talks about Mr. Amitabha Sadangi from Orissa who introduced Micro finance equipments at affordable rates to farmers in his vicinity that helped farmers to a great extent that they now do not be dependent upon the monsoon for their crop. Now his initiative resulted in a wide spread revolution country wide with a number of farmers from all parts of the country are replicating the ideas of Mr. Sadangi for their non-dependency upon Monsoon rain

Micro irrigation itself is a broad concept as it tells us how to use the techniques of irrigation even with a small land. Though it is true that irrigation technologies are available for farmers who are cash rich and have acres of land these innovative technologies waited for Mr. Sadangi’s initiatives to reach to a wider spectrum of marginal farm lands and of course farmers.
In the next article we will discuss about the techniques used for micro-irrigation
