BJP won 2014 Haryana Assembly Polls

BJP emerged as a winner in Haryana assembly polls winning majority of seats. This assembly election showed a different Haryana and its voters. People like Savitri Jindal and Bhuipnder Singh hooda lost to BJP and lesser known BJP faces emerged as winners. For example Savitri Jindal, the richest woman of the country who was elected from Hisar constituency in 2005 and 2009 lost to BJP candidate Kamal Gupta by 13,646 seats. She is the Chairperson of O.P Jindal group, a multi-billion group having business presence in steel, mining and power.

INLD which has not been in power from 2005 will have to sit once again in the opposition for the coming 5 years and their seats have been reduced to 20 from 31 seats in 2009.

BJP won by simple majority with 46 seats to their credit out of 90 seats. As a result outgoing chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda submitted his resignation to the Governor of Haryana. The congress won 15 seats while INLD won 19 seats, Haryana Janhit Congress won 2 seats; BSP and Shiromani Akali Dal have 1 each to their luck while 5 seats went to the independent candidates.

Modi campaigned relentlessly for the assembly election addressing 35 rallies in the two states. BJP with confidently presented itself in the assembly polls under the strong leadership of Modi. Winning the assembly polls is crucial for BJP.
