Parched a review on helpless rural women

Leena Yadav’s “parched” is not a story of women empowerment in rural India rather a story of agony, pain that poor women in some parts of India suffer throughout their life. There are realities of female feticide in India not only in Rural India but also in towns and cities, by educated people. Village women who are dependent on their husbands are constantly tortured by their men either emotionally or physically.

Their stories of mental and physical agony are really heart wrenching, Women tortured for dowry, some mortgaged their females for money, some for money get their under aged girls married to overaged men.

Such vices are common in remote rural villages hit by poverty, lack of education and even the basic needs.

Parched has Tannishtha Chatterjee, Radhika Apte, Surveen Chawla, Adil Hussain, Lehar Khan, Riddhi Sen, Mahesh Balraj, Chandan Anand, Sumeet Vyas.

Radhika Apte lived upto the character so well that she had to show her nudity to express the depth of her role play.
